Performance Development Review

Our Performance Development Review (PDR) process supports everyone to be their best at work. Every year you will have a PDR meeting with your line manager and set objectives and goals for the year ahead. This will help you to:

  • develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.
  • support the delivery of our purpose – nuclear science to benefit society.
  • maximise your performance through feedback.
  • identify your training and learning needs for the year ahead.

PDR provides an ongoing conversation between you and your manager throughout the year, with five key elements.

Step 7

Compliance Training and Training Records

As well as your professional training and development courses, you also need to complete mandatory training courses. Mandatory training, which we call Compliance Training, is an important part of our safety and security culture and is managed by a dedicated Compliance Training Team to ensure you are compliant in your role and UKNNL adheres to requirements set out by our regulators and legislation.

The Compliance Training Team assign each person a training role – you might have more than one depending on your role and location, and this determines what compliance training you are required to complete. The Compliance Training Team will book and arrange specific courses to help you become a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person to carry out your role or SQEP.

The Compliance Training Team regularly reports on training metrics to senior management. If your training is out of date or incomplete, it may prevent you from carrying out certain aspects of your role. Each month Business World will look at any gaps in your compliance training record and send you an email asking you to complete training that has either never been done OR is due to be refreshed. It’s your responsibility to complete training. It may be as simple as logging into the UKNNL e-learning system, or you may need to contact the Compliance Training Team to arrange a course. Either way, your email will tell you what you need to do.

All training records are stored and managed in Business World. You can view your training record, along with your training roles, by following the below instructions.

Qualifications

Each employee is responsible for adding their qualifications to Business World. We use qualification and other training data to understand our capabilities and identify gaps in skills to help us maintain the depth and breadth of experience that is critical to our business. Qualification and skills data can also help us bid for work by showcasing the broad experience and skills of our people. You can add your qualifications using the below instructions.
Add your Qualifications to Business World
Step 8

Compliance Training and Training Records activities

To do
Find and identify your Training Role(s) in Business World. Ask your manager about what type of training you can expect - don’t worry if your training role says ‘in training’, it just means your role is still being assessed. Keep checking back for updates.
Add your qualifications to Business World - don’t worry if you can’t remember everything, you can just add the highest level of qualification you hold (and/or the most relevant to your role) e.g. Master’s Degree.
